The road in passes through the emotions. It is necessary to experience them directly, to feel the anger, pain, or loss directly, without any interpretation, explanation or labeling. As the emotions cease,you are left in the state of pure being – simply sitting. Again, it is not possible to think about it – “Oh, now I’m just sitting“, because what we are after is the direct experience, in the same way that the experience of the color red differs from the labeling of it. This is subtle, and hard to do, but the aid to use is the breath – always, always, just follow the breath, and it will lead there like a rope guides you through a dark cavern. By trusting this simple means, thoughts can be thrust aside at any level.
